This year my husband and I celebrated our silver wedding anniversary, which prompted me to look back at the old photographs of my wedding day. It’s always funny to see how much fashions have changed! My children found these pictures quite comical…
My dress was silk taffeta, tulle and chantilly lace. I designed and made it myself, which looking back on now, maybe the sleeve were a bit of a mistake! Although, it has been put to good use over the years by my daughters who kept it in the dress up box!
The bouquet I had was cream roses and cornflowers, my pearls were lent to me by a friend, I was given a vintage brooch by my mother-in-law and I stitched a blue ribbon on the inside of my dress so I had my old, new, borrowed and blue.
I know, a terrible picture of me smoking, but I’m pleased to say I gave it up shortly after!
My husband, Paul, in his Ray Bans and Paul Smith tie (which he spent a looooong time choosing!).
My Uncle gave me away, as sadly my own father passed away when I was very young.
Years ago, people used to send their best wishes via telegrams for you read out at the receptions.
